The generous Electric Vehicle Home Charge Scheme (EVHS) from the Office of Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) will cease to exist in its current format from the end of March 2022.
This means that electric vehicle owners who live in their own home will no longer be able to apply for a grant to cover 75% of the costs (up to £350) of installing an electric vehicle charging point at their home.
From 1 April 2022, EV owners that own their own home will have to pay for the full cost of installing a charging point at home.
OZEV has confirmed that the changes that are coming into effect will change the focus of electric vehicle charging point grants to giving grants to have points installed in flats and apartment blocks, social housing and for landlords.
Act Now to Benefit from the Electric Vehicle Home Charge Scheme
With the confirmation that EVHS will change its direction from Q2 next year, there is never a better time to benefit from having a charging point installed at home if you already own an electric vehicle or have one on order.
Having a charging point installed at your property means:
- Your vehicle will charge in a more efficient way
- Your vehicle will charge faster
- You will benefit from additional safety factors of having a dedicated charging point
- You can benefit from additional features of having a smart charging point installed
Who can benefit from the Electric Vehicle Home Charge Scheme?
Until the EVHS changes direction in April, there are only a few limitations on who can benefit from a grant of up to £350 to cover 75% of the cost of installing an electric vehicle charging point at your home:
You must own an electric vehicle or have one on order
You must have dedicated off-street parking at your property
How do I claim?
This is an easy one. Leave it to us. We will make it as easy as possible for you to have your charging point installed at home. Following an inspection to confirm the full details needed to install your electric vehicle charging point we’ll take some details that will allow us to draw down the funding directly from OZEV, meaning the only bill you will receive will be the remaining balance.
