Installing an electric car charger: Our process
Installing an electric car charger has real benefits to business owners and to residential users. These vary depending on your need but include financial benefits and benefits to the environment. One thing that doesn’t change though is our service to customers throughout the installation process. In this blog, we’re going to detail what this process looks like and what you can expect when you sign up for a charging point installation at your business or your home.
There are three main parts to your installation
Site Survey
Before we agree to your install, we will conduct a no-obligation site survey. Installing an electric car charger should be hassle-free for you, the customer, and the majority of installs are straight forward but it is vital we get the installation right and each site is unique. Typically we will be looking at access, where the charging point will be located, and any obstructions.
Once we have surveyed your site, we can give you a quote. This will include details of the current grants that are available from the Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV). We take all the hassle out of applying for the grant for you, so you only a small part of the install to pay for yourself.
Installing Your Electric Car Charger
Once all has been agreed, prior to your installation date, we will contact your energy supplier to inform them that a charging point is to be installed at your address.
On the day of your charging point installation, we will arrive at the agreed time and commence work, leaving as little obstruction to your business or your day-to-day life as is possible. We have a dedicated family team of installers who take pride in their work and leave no mess. We’ll be at your property for a few short hours to complete the job in under a day.
During the install process, a dedicated fuse board can be fitted for the charging point where required, and for maximum safety, we fit residual current devices (RCDs) between the main fuse board and charge point, and between charge point and vehicle.

Following install, our OLEV registered technician will give your system a thorough check through. Once happy, we’ll sign it off and you are ready to Go Electric.
Of course, we’ll show you how to use the system. The equipment you need is limited in quantity and space, and you’ll be amazed at how easy it is to charge your electric vehicle, how fast the system works and how the smart technology switches off when your battery is fully charged. All of this can be managed from a simple app on your phone.
After Care
Following install, we are only a call away if you ever need a reminder on how to use your system, you have any further questions or if you have any problems. As a family run business we pride ourselves on putting you the customer at the heart of everything we do, and being there for you is part of the service.
